Empowering the Next Generation of Innovators

The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at PES University is a vibrant platform
that enables students to turn their ideas into reality. By providing a robust ecosystem, CIE
cultivates innovation and entrepreneurship, guiding students at every step of their journey
toward success.

Student-Centric:

• Empowering Student Innovation: Nurturing 2150+ innovators across 15 cohorts
  and fostering a culture of success, evident in students winning prestigious competitions
  like MoveInSync’s Mobility Hackathon, IBM TechXchange Conference,
  Google Gen AI Exchange Hackathon, and Intel India AI Impact Festival. Also,
  147 teams were selected/coached for SIH 2024.
• Fostering Research and Innovation: Enabling 526 students to participate in Intel-
  PESU Research Innovation Contests alongside initiatives like the CIE Research
  Internship program, providing hands-on experience with industry-relevant projects,
  such as the Summer IPI program’s CV project sponsored by Mindset Systems.
• Building a Strong Alumni Network: Connecting current students with a robust
  alumni network to provide mentorship, inspiration, and career guidance, fueling the next
  generation of innovators.

Process-Oriented:

• Delivering Excellence: Consistently achieving a 4+/5 course rating across various programs, reflecting a commitment to high-quality education and student satisfaction.
• Optimizing Operations: Implementing a student-friendly process to onboard students into the innovation/entrepreneurship journey, exemplified by initiatives like the CIE Aarambh/Harvard ManageMentor program and the NASSCOM Thingqbator program.
• Creative Resource Utilization: Maximizing the impact of internal and ecosystem resources through programs like the CIE Industry Mentor program, bringing in 5 industry mentors to provide courses, workshops, mentoring, and facilitating industry internships.

Identity-Focused:

• Building a Strong Brand: Building on PESU’s reputation for innovation and entrepreneurship and successfully rolling out a novel 2-credit Essentials of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (EIE) course, reaching ~4500 students in both EC & RR campuses.
• Fostering Global Exposure: Providing opportunities for international internships and collaborations through programs like the UC Berkeley BHGAP semester abroad program, with two students confirmed for the Spring 2025 semester, and certificate courses like the Harvard ManageMentor program, with 58 students completed and 20 enrolled for 2025.
• Creating a Vibrant Community: Fostering a strong and engaged community of students, alumni, and industry partners through various online and offline platforms, facilitating valuable networking and collaboration opportunities.

• Fostering Innovation: Creating a conducive environment for ideation, prototyping, and experimentation, supported by initiatives like workshops such as Practical Approach to Machine Learning run by Industry Mentors.
• Encouraging Hands-on Learning: Organizing hackathons, workshops, and tinkering sessions and facilitating interactions with expert mentors to provide practical experience and skill development.

Teaching Excellence:

• Delivering World-Class Education: Offering best-in-class content and pedagogy across all programs, ensuring students receive a comprehensive and cutting-edge education.
• Leveraging Industry Expertise: Integrating industry professionals into the teaching process through Multiple Industry connects and the CIE Industry Mentor program, providing students with valuable practical insights and real-world perspectives.
• Continuously Evolving: Introducing new courses and program variations to stay ahead of the curve and meet the evolving needs of the industry, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for future challenges. CIE has facilitated 76 external paid internships, with 43 in 2024.
