The WiNC domain deals with design of communication technologies and emerging data-centric applications. We focus on developing theoretical, experimental and simulation based proof of concepts in the area of wireless, networking and communication technologies. The WiNC domain is divided into three major tracks namely Physical Track, Wireless Track and Networking Track. Each track offers courses and research/internship opportunities for students with keen interests in the objectives of the WiNC domain. The courses under the WiNC domain are designed based on the feedback given by invited experts from industry and academia.
Physical track deals with the design of communication devices (e.g., RF CMOS; SDR; Antennas) and the signal processing aspects of communication (e.g., Modulation; Coding; Cryptography).
Wireless track deals with wireless transmission technologies (e.g., 5G; NOMA; MIMO; IEEE 802.xx) and modeling algorithms for the wireless channels (e.g., Detection; Estimation; Transmission scheduling; Channel modeling).
Networking Track deals with design and analysis of application oriented communication networks (e.g., Internet-of-Things; Multi-access edge computing; Cellular and wireless networks; Smart grid communication; Network and data security).
WiNC domain has the following labs for teaching and research: Microwave and antennas lab, Digital communication lab, and Computer networking lab. We use the best practices in building our hardware and software facilities (e.g., CST Software Suite; MATLAB; CPLEX; FEKO; GNS3; Optical Fiber kit; Spectrum Analyzer). WiNC domain members actively contribute to the growth of the ECE department in the form of publications under leading international conferences and international journals, best paper awards, research citations, patents and research grants. Faculty members under WiNC domain have been collaborating with industry and academia for conducting research, workshops, guest lectures, hackathons and internships. For more details about the facilities and the faculty members, contact the department of ECE or visit https://ec.pes.edu.
